Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy
This is the fourth and final technique the tutees will learn from student tutors at university.
Your tutees will have had their slit lamp lectures before this tutorial. If you would like to review what they have been taught, their lecture handouts are available to download at the bottom of this page. We need to ensure the tutees that they learn the basics of this method of examination. Each of the viewing techniques of slit lamp should be taught individually after the tutees have been taught how to handle the slit lamp. Read over your notes from last year and make sure you know how to perform each of these tasks yourself. If you are unsure of something, write this aspect down in the allocated space on your question sheet and bring it up in your pre-tutorial discussion. There is a link to the basic clinical techniques module core text book underneath this text. You must register but you may use it to remind yourself of retinoscopy technique. |
Watch the video tutorial above using the questions it asks to help you fill in your question sheet.
Think about what the primary, secondary and tertiary aspects of each of the viewing techniques of slit lamp biomicroscopy are. Write your ideas for these in the allocated space on your question sheet. Now download the document 'Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy Tutor Handout' beneath this text and take it to the tutorial with you. You will need it to make notes on your discussion and assess the tutees during the session.
